The combination scored a dressage mark of 38.2. In second, is Britain’s travelling reserve combination Pippa Funnell and Billy The Biz with 40.9 and Oliver Townend (GB) riding Armada is in third with 41.5. Both the three and two star competition is shaping up into a hot pre-cursor to the Olympics. Australia’s Chris Burton sent out a warning shot ahead of the Olympics, if his dressage form is anything to go by, as he leads both two star sections C and D on his longlisted horses Santano II and Nobilis 18.

Furthermore, Team GB’s Rio bound combination’s Kitty King and Ceylor L A N and William Fox-Pitt riding Chilli Morning lie in fifth and sixth place on 43.6 and 44. 9 respectively, in the  section C.

William Fox-Pitt and Top Biats also lead CiC two star section E with a dressage of 40.

Saffron Creswell riding Cuffesgrange Little Ric took Barbury’s Pony section finishing on her dressage score of 26.4 ahead of Connie Warde-Adalm and Craig Mor Tom who had two down showjumping (finishing on 34.1); and Eloise Bartlett and Killacoran Blue (35.7) in third. This class was a final run before selectors pick their team to represent Great Britain at this year’s FEI Pony European Championships, which takes place in Vilhelmsborg Denmark 17th – 21st August 2016.

Australia’s Christopher Burton’s good day was topped off with a novice class win (section F) with Fire Fly.  New Zealand’s Rio travelling reserve, Tim Price won another of the novice classes (section H) with Falco IV.

The top 10 combinations in today’s Retraining of Racehorses class go through to complete a final round of show-jumping on Sunday to decide the Championship. Only a couple of fences separate the top 5 with the winner Ginny Howe (Creeslough) finishing on 31.0, Harry Meade (Sparkys Reflection) second on 35 and Zoe Wilkinson (Craignure) on 35.5.
