Patriotic Pup: The Life of Brian Part 7

Brian, our roving rover sniffs out the best buys for discerning pooches in his dedicated blog to all things dog. From field (and stable) to city, our pooch on a mission to discover the best products for doggies with style.

This month, I thought I’d give a woof (that’s dog speak for a shout out) to all those great British brands…

I love to get out and about with my humans, and that includes dog-friendly music festivals (Yes, there are few of the smaller day time ones that allow us dogs to ‘paw-ty’ too!) This Glastonbury Dog Travel Bed is ideal for me on the move. Handmade to order from the finest quality quilted wax cotton, with a soft, washable fleece bed cover over a removable duvet style lining.

The Glastonbury incorporates a handy Velcro fastened pocket containing two collapsible bowls, as well as an adjustable shoulder strap for convenient carrying. Ready to rock and roll for Burghley Horse Trials (However would avoid the ‘roll’ bit. Especially in anything smelly as they will bath you.)

RRP: £195.99

Now, those of you that know me well, know I love quality and these stunning soft water resistant calf leather collar, lead and poo bag pooches are all handmade in the UK. Their leads are all a good length, but they can make them longer if you wish, which is quite important when you are as small as me! I love the range of colours they come in and their international Brit appeal!!

Lead, Poo Bag pouch & Lead Set RRP: £72

How about a designer dog bowl handmade by an English potter in Brighton? Yes, us pooches also like dinner served on fine crockery too, and this bowl is gorgeous! They come in a range of muted colours that won’t play havoc with your kitchen or hallway interior design and are deep enough to be a water bowl or for meals. Just like me, each dish is unique and good looking.

RRP: £45 each

For those pooches out there who want to show off their patriotism with a passion, there’s the Union Jack Collection from Mabel & Mu. Stand or strut with pride when you wear this British flag print lead, collar and bow tie but whatever you do, don’t be rude to any corgis you might meet.

Prices start from RRP: £7.99 for dog collar & £3 for bow-tie

Brian Tries… The Dog Treat Company Treats

Well, to say that my friends and I were spoilt with this month’s test is an understatement! Those lovely humans at The Dog Treat Company sent me quite a few to try, and I have to say, I’ve certainly had fun trying them! They are all made at their factory in Devon, and apart from being delicious for us doggies, my humans were more than happy for me to try them all because they don’t contain any nasty ingredients, which apparently are in a lot of dog treats out there.  They also use human grade ingredients such as free-range chicken livers in their treats, and they blend all these delicious ingredients and healthy herbs for a range that had my friends and I barking for more!

They also made my human smile at the names of the treats: Fabulous Fur, Fighting Fit, Hearty Days, which are all perfect names for their yummy treats created to keep us dogs, healthy and happy. For example, ‘Take My Dog Breath Away’ is good for smelly breath, so my senior canine friend Dave had those – I didn’t tell him why I gave him the pack, after all, I don’t want to offend the old chap.

Their Trio of Tins was loved by us all as they help keep the treats fresh with their resealable air tight lids. However, I would have been more than happy to have eaten the lot before dinner time. They were also the perfect bite size for even the smallest of my friends and also not too hard which again makes them a great treat for my dear and old friend Dave.

The Dog Treat Pooches start at RRP: £11 but humans can choose to subscribe and get regular deliveries at a discounted price!  Ideal for multi-dog households or for pups like me who are still doing lots of learning and training and need a tasty reward for when I am good and listen to my human. Now I’ve discovered these; I think I’m going to be an A class student!!
