The flagship race is the Betfair Tingle Creek, which is run on the Saturday and attracts some of the top horses and jockeys in Britain. The Tingle Creek Chase is one of the key races of the season, won in 2016 by the Willie Mullins-trained Un De Sceaux. The race is steeped in history and has an impressive list of previous champions with the likes of Desert Orchid, Moscow Flyer, Kauto Star, Sprinter Sacre and Sire de Grugy taking their place on the role of honour. The event was first run in 1979, and named in honour of Tingle Creek, a popular National Hunt racehorse in the 1970s.
Away from the top class racing there will be plenty to keep the crowds entertained. A new addition to this year’s Tingle Creek Day is a Bavarian Beer Hall, complete with Steins and Bratwurst for a real festive experience. Racegoers will have the chance to meet some of the top jockeys before racing starts in the Jockey Signing Hub. There’s also the opportunity to have a go at commentating on a race! Courtesy of the race sponsors a commentary box will be on site for members of the public to have a shot at calling home the winners of previous Tingle Creek races. After racing racegoers will get a chance at showing off their singing skills with Christmas-themed ‘Rockeoke’. Gates on the Saturday open at 10:30am, with the first race at approximately 12.30pm and last race 3.30pm.
The event promises to be a great way to kick off your Christmas festivities in style, celebrating with friends and family in the fresh air.
Tickets are on sale, starting from £27.50. Under 18s go FREE when accompanied by an adult.
