Hosted at Essex-based House and Jackson’s Horse Clinic and featuring a range of discussions from the practice’s vets, Spillers’ R&D coordinator Sarah Nelson and Redwings’ Welfare Veterinary Surgeon Roxane Kirton and Senior Field Officer Jo Franklin, the day will provide invaluable insights and top tips on some of the common issues that horse owners face on a daily basis.
Attendees will enjoy four fascinating presentations with a morning focused on horse behaviour. Redwings vet Roxane will explore how horses learn and the misdemeanours of perceived “problem behaviours”, while House and Jackson vet Eric Belloy will delve into what we know about stereotypical behaviours such as crib-biting and weaving.
The afternoon will hand over to horse health with a focus on weight management, nutrition and wound care. Here, attendees will receive lots of take-home advice, from learning how to condition score your horse (with honesty!) to practical first aid, including how to deal with injuries and what to tell your vet in an emergency.
Have you ever wondered what happens during a Redwings rescue or behind the scenes at an equine veterinary practice? This event will also provide an insight into Redwings’ rescue work – of which there have been a few recent high profile cases in Essex as experienced first-hand by field officer Jo – as well as a tour of the fantastic facilities at House and Jackson’s Horse Clinic.
Looking forward to the event, Redwings Education and Campaigns Manager Andie Vilela said:
“As well as gathering valuable information and advice, don’t miss your chance to have your horse care and behaviour questions answered by experts from Redwings, Spillers and House and Jackson – and all for free!
And if that wasn’t enough, complimentary refreshments and a light lunch are provided too, as well as a take home goodie bag”.
