BADMINTON ’19: Dressage Day 1 | Oliver Townend sets new record

It was one hell of a morning on the first day of dressage at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, when, fresh from winning the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event, Oliver Townend, riding Cillnabradden Evo, beat the Badminton dressage record with an incredible score of 19.7. The record had been held by Andrew Hoy, riding Darien Powers and was achieved back in 2002 with a score of 20.5.

The day ended with 5 Brits top of the leaderboard: Oliver remains at the top with Tom McEwen & Toledo de Kerser in second on 24.7 and Piggy French and Vanir Kamira on 26.0. They are joined by Kitty King and Vendredi Biats in 4th on 27.2 and Millie Dumas and Artistiek in 5th on 27.3.
