British Horse Society announces return of Ride Out UK Month

After a successful first year, which saw more than 1,000 riders take part in events throughout the country, the BHS has announced that its Ride Out UK Month will be returning for May 2018.

Throughout the month, the BHS, its committees, BHS Affiliated Equestrian Access Groups and Approved Centres will be hosting events all in aid of the Paths for Communities Fund. Last year saw bridleway clearances, pleasure rides and protest rides all organised.

The fund can be accessed by local equestrians to create or repair multi-user routes in their area. Last year almost £9,000 was raised and the BHS is hoping to exceed that amount this year.

Mark Weston, Director of Access at the BHS said:

“Ride Out UK Month really is about celebrating the joys of riding out, and getting more carriage drivers and riders to enjoy our beautiful countryside. It is also a great opportunity to promote our work to protect and extend safe off-road routes for riders and carriage drivers.”

This year’s Ride Out UK Month is kindly sponsored by Thorowgood.

If riders are unable to attend organised events, they can use apps on their smartphone to track riding routes and raise money for Paths for Communities. If you email access@bhs.org.uk and pledge or raise £15, you will receive your fundraising pack with further information.

National Trust Rides:

The hugely popular National Trust estate riders are returning in 2018 for Ride Out UK Month. The rides are a unique opportunity to explore some of Britain’s estates on horseback.
