Elizabeth commented;
“I am really grateful to the WIR bursary. This sum of money will enable me to secure gallery space in London to exhibit my work, and hold an exhibition in 2019 to complement the existing collections. I would not have been able to achieve this without the bursary and it will play an essential part in helping me develop my commercial art collection”.
Furthermore, over 30 members and guests attended the WIR Christmas celebration at Cheltenham. The group were welcomed by recently-appointed non-executive racecourse committee director at Cheltenham Racecourse – Alice Plunkett. Alice provided a fascinating insight into her numerous roles as a racecourse committee director, presenter on Channel 4 Racing and ITV Racing from 2017, as well as juggling being a mother of four children and husband to four times world number one event rider – William Fox-Pitt.
Julie Deadman, Chair of Women in Racing said;
“We were delighted to welcome so many new and familiar faces to Cheltenham. We are grateful to both them and Cheltenham Racecourse in supporting our efforts to develop networks within horseracing and in turn encouraging development of talent in the sport. Our special thanks also go to Alice Plunkett, she is a great role model, who has a very broad and successful career and is excellent example of what can be achieved within horseracing”.
