France wins the first leg of FEI Eventing Nations Cup

After 4 days of amazing sport the Vairano Horse trials is over. The first leg of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup saw France repeat their win of 2016.

The team composed by Luc Chateau with Propriano de l’Ebat, Maxime Livio and Pica d’Or, Brice Luda with Valere de Bonnieres and Raphael Cochet with Sherazad de Louviere, took the lead after the dressage phase with 83points and maintained it through the cross-country phase with three clear rounds inside the time and also in the final phase of show jumping, ending with 88,2 to win the first Nations Cup of the year.

In second place the Swedish team that completed the competition with a total of 124,3 thanks to the performances of Christoffer Forsberg and Hippo’s Sapporo, Ludwig Svennerstal and Balham Mist and Anna Freskgard with Box Qutie. Sweden were in 2nd place after the dressage but then dropped one position after the cross country to regain it again during the show jumping phase.

The home team of Italy formed by Clelia Casiraghi with Verdi, Rebecca Chiappero and Quilando Z, Fosco Girardi and Feldheger and Arianna Schivo with Quefira de l’Ormeau completed the podium with their 3rd place with a total of 128,6.

With a total of 164,9 and in the 4th place of the Nations Cup the Swiss team, consisting of  Robin Godel and Grandeur de Lully CH, Patrizia Attinger with Mooney Amach, Jasmin Gambirasio and Tempo de Laume and Camille Guyot with Ulsan de Lacoree.

For the Netherlands, Alice Naber-Lozeman and ACSI Peter Parker won the individual classification with two double clears and 26points. To complete the podium Luc Chateau and Propriano de l’Ebat with 26,7 and Maxime Livio and Pica d’Or with 28.

The CICO*** included also the Italian Senior Championships won by Arianna Schivo and Quefira de l’Ormeau with a total of 36,9.

Susanna Bordone and Dinky Inky are the winners of the CCI***; Susanna, who was in 3rd place after the two phases, climbed the rankings with a clear round in the show jumping phase to reach her third victory in the CCI3* of Vairano, her home-base, with 33,9. Second place for the swiss rider Patrizia Attinger with Hilton P on a total of 35,5 and third place for France with Sidney Dufresne and Tresor Mail with 36.

The CIC** saw the german Kai-Steffen Meier with Nyala d’Arville lead throughout to triumph with 32,5. In second place, for Ecuador, Nicolas Wettstein with Onzieme Framoni with 38,3 and in third place the Italian Luisa Palli with Kimono with 40,4.

Section A of the CIC* was won by Alessandro Motta con Iesedaese van St.Anneke with 30,2 and section B by the swiss rider Camille Guyot with Vinecheska Jeclai’s with 29,6.

After the prize giving of the CICO3* Stefano Brecciaroli officially retired Apollo Vd Wendi Kurt Hoeve. In 10 years together the combination represented Italy at the 2010 WEG, at the European Championships in Luhumulhen in 2011and at London and Rio Olympics. Apollo, who is now 18, has 4 CIC3 wins under his belt: Cameri (Ita) in 2011, Pratoni del Vivaro (Ita) and Montelibretti (Ita) in 2012 and Burnham Market (GBR) in 2013. He also finished the CCI4* at Badminton in 6th place in 2013. We wish Apollo VD Wendi Kurt Hoeve a happy retirement.
