Helping Ebony Horse Club’s Future Generations

Ariat have teamed up with London based charity Ebony Horse Club to supply a selection of boots, for children and teenagers to wear during their lessons.

Ebony Horse Club have been working with disadvantaged children and teenagers since 1996, helping to educate and teach life skills through horses, outdoor activities and mentoring. Located in Brixton, South London Ebony Horse Club teaches 400 children and young people a year to learn to ride and look after horses through their youth work.

The charity’s members come from a range of backgrounds who experience significant challenges at school and at home – challenges that can profoundly affect their ability to achieve later in life.  Young people living in this environment have little or no positive contact with animals, especially horses. They miss out on the opportunity to experience the enjoyment and sense of achievement that can be gained by learning to ride.  Members attending weekly sessions during term time get to develop a whole host of skills and for many it is the only outdoor activity they get to take part in.

Ariat have supplied the charity with a selection of boots which 120 children a week will get to wear whilst taking part in their equestrian and outdoor activities.

Marketing Manager Melanie Selman said:

“Ebony Horse Club does a fantastic job in providing many disadvantaged youngsters the opportunity to benefit from learning to ride and spending time with horses, something at Ariat we are very passionate about. The centre relies on donations to keep active so we are delighted to have been able to supply them with a bank of product for their children to wear, which we hope will help them feel smart, safe and comfortable whilst taking part in their classes.”

David Fleming from Ebony Horse Club commented:

“We would like to thank Ariat for their kind support by donating boots for our members and jackets for the staff at the club. Excellent quality clothing and footwear is constantly needed to give our young members the confidence to be safe and comfortable when riding their horses.”
