AARON’S STORY
In June 2009, aged just 26 years old, Aaron was diagnosed with testicular cancer – Just like 2,000-3,000 men every year, 84% of those aged between 24-49 years old. Luckily Aaron’s haste in attending his Dr to check the ‘lump’ probably saved his life, and due to the cancer still being in early stages the surgeons at the hospital were able to remove the cancer immediately with no further major treatment required. Aaron has since regularly attended a specialist unit at Castle Hill Hospital in the East Riding of Yorkshire for cancer ‘check-ups’ and we hope 2015 will be the year in which Aaron receives the final ‘all clear’!
MELODY’S STORY
At the beginning of the year 2000 Melody arrived at World Horse Welfare’s Hall Farm branch still in her mother’s pregnant stomach. The charity had rescued her mother, Maude, and another pregnant grey mare called Fergie. They were both in a dreadful state, and being malnourished/skinny were unfortunately not all of their worries as shortly after Melody’s birth her mother sadly passed away due to illness caused by mistreatment in her previous life. World Horse Welfare were able to make Maude comfortable before her passing and showed her love that she had not seen in a long time before arriving with them.

Thankfully Melody and Fergie, along with her foal,William, all survived to recover completely and became beautiful healthy horses. Once Melody was a year old she became available for rehoming, which is when the people behind the calendar got involved. They travelled for over 4 hours to meet Melody at the Hall Farm centre in Norfolk and were over the moon to bring her home just a few weeks later. Melody’s fourth birthday passed earlier this year and she is now becoming a wonderful riding horse.
