18 year-old Jessica Mendoza and the 14 year-old bay mare Spirit T, whom is jointly owned by her mother Sarah and John Roberts, stormed to victory in the Gold Tour Grand Prix in Arezzo, Italy yesterday.
Stopping the clock over a second faster than Rene Tebbel and Zipper from the Ukraine saw an absolutely delighted Jessica secure a solid GB victory. One of just four competitors from a field of almost sixty starters to achieve a double clear, their win was a highly deserved one. Only three months into the year and Jessica has already notched up considerable senior international wins and placings during 2015 at venues including Gent, Hong Kong and Lier to name a few.
Known for relishing the challenge of the clock in a jump off, this afternoon was no exception for Jessica with her not only turning up the pace but also turning incredibly tight at every possible opportunity. An absolutely brilliant round that saw her relegate every other competitor that was in contention. Helana Persson for Sweden with Bonzai took 3rd place whilst 4th went to Ferenc Szentirmai for the Ukraine with Cassuci.
