New online platform launches to support women in the countryside

This autumn, a new online platform, The Ladies Countryside Community, has launched to support, connect and inspire women all across the UK who live in the countryside or love a rural way of life.

In a year when the majority of events have been cancelled and people have felt more isolated than ever, the new social space is designed to help women find friendships, information and inspiration from fellow country-loving ladies.

Created by Lindsey McDean, an equestrian, rural loving mum from Cheshire, the community is a cause close to her heart. Having missed the camaraderie and inspiration from events in 2020 and unable to find a dedicated online community, she was inspired to create one, and has so far been inundated with support.

Lindsey said “I am over the moon to have launched the Ladies Countryside Community. This year has been tough on us all and I’ve realised how important it is to have a safe space to connect with like-minded women, especially when you live in rural areas where it can already feel a little isolated.

The Ladies Countryside Community grew from my personal social media account to become a tailor made platform for women to connect and find interesting things to do, make or buy. We already have a team of 18 regional reporters covering Scotland to Cornwall and everywhere in between, each sharing reviews, recommendations and stories from their rural patch of the UK to inspire other women!

Supporting smaller, passion-led rural businesses is also very important to me and is the reason I created our Rural Directory. An opportunity to showcase countryside businesses at the very heart of the UK.”

Alongside enjoying the rural news, features and directory, Ladies Countryside Community members are able to bookmark their favourite content through their account, tailoring the platform to suit their needs and interests.  Future plans include an online marketplace, job noticeboard, training courses section and resources for small businesses; allowing members to shop, learn and connect even more with one other.

Membership is currently free until the end of 2020. To find out more visit www.ladiescountrysidecommunity.co.uk
