The 32Red Newmarket Open Weekend

The 32Red Newmarket Open Weekend and NOW’s Food and Drink Festival will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September 2017.

The Open Weekend gives visitors the rare opportunity to see behind the scenes at British horseracing’s HQ, meet the sport’s biggest equine and human stars, plus enjoy a host of afternoon family entertainments.

Visitors can enjoy access and tours at many of Newmarket’s integral equine sites, including Newmarket Equine Hospital (Saturday), the British Racing School (Saturday), Rossdales Equine Hospital and Diagnostic Centre (Sunday), Tattersalls Bloodstock Auction House (Sunday), the National Stud (both days), and the Jockey Club Rooms (both days).

The National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art will also be open to all NOW wristband holders both days.  With no racing on the Saturday it will give visitors the perfect opportunity to explore the new attractions and enjoy an exciting programme of events taking place in the Peter O’Sullevan Arena for the Welfare of the Horse, including; the Dodson & Horrell Cavalier Horses display, Andrews Bowen Suffolk Punch demonstration, Bidwells petting farm, plus the Al Shaqab Kids Zone.

An action-packed Sunday will start on Warren Hill Gallops at 8am, followed by the opening of the trainers’ yards at 9am.  Trainers already confirmed to open their gates on Sunday morning are Ed Dunlop, Michael Bell, Charlie Appleby, David Simcock, and Roger Varian – with more to be soon announced.  The afternoon entertainment will include a talk at Tattersalls in the main sales ring, before visitors descend to the main arena, at its new venue on the Severals, for the Waitrose Stable Staff Games, Stable Staff vs Trainers Football Match, plus the hugely popular Clipper Logistics Show Jumping Competition.

The Open Weekend is for both racing fans and food lovers alike. Now in its third year, the popular Food and Drink Festival will be right at the heart of the town, on Palace Street, at the National Heritage Centre, and the Guineas, for both days. Visitors to the event will have the chance to sample and purchase delicious foods from over 50 bespoke stalls.  There will also be the opportunity to improve your own cooking skills with celebrity chefs. Theo Randall, of River Café and BBC’s Saturday Kitchen fame, and Sophie Grigson will be sharing their top tips whilst cooking up a storm in in the Festival’s demo kitchen. Whilst wine expert Oz Clarke will ensure that you can host the ultimate dinner party.

Theo Randall has also generously offered to donate an incredible prize for our online auction.  Theo for one night only will step out of his restaurant kitchen, so he can step in to yours, and cook a four- course dinner for you and your friends. Here is your chance to have one of the most renowned and respected chefs in the country in your home. There will also be a selection of delicious wines to compliment, chosen by Oz Clarke.  Bidding can be made now online for this incredible prize at – https://www.now2017-auction. com/lite-ui/#home
