Having an Event in her name was one of Hannah’s dreams and the Organising Committee are delighted to have been able to do this for her and celebrate her love of the sport. Around 200 competitors took on the challenge and there were classes at 70cm, 80cm and 90cm.
Hannah inspired many people to get involved in, or return to, Eventing and a number of Wobbleberries took the opportunity to compete at this Event. Numerous Berry Ponies also went around the course and gave valuable encouragement!
The organisers were overwhelmed by offers of help from volunteers, of which there were about 100, and touched by the generosity of sponsors who provided financial assistance, prizes and loaned equipment. A perpetual trophy has been donated for every section of the competition and all winners also received their own Berry Pony, complete with scarf knitted in the colour of the section in which they were competing, as well as other superb prizes.
All profits from the Event will go to support the charity started by Hannah herself, Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity, which funds research into bone cancer and also fulfils Equestrian Wishes for seriously ill people.
Some quotes we have received about the Event are below:
The friendliest event ever. Huge thanks to everyone who volunteered and kept smiling all day. And to Hannah for giving me the inspiration to do an event again after hanging up my boots from eventing a very long time ago x
Thank you for an amazing day, everyone was very supportive and kind and it was almost as if Tillyberry my Wonder Pony was patting me on the shoulder all the way round to give me the confidence and we managed to jump clear.
Thank you so much for a really fantastic event ! My boy’s first ever ODE, and my first for 20 plus years, and my first in this country. Everyone was so friendly, encouraging, and helpful, the jumping and xc courses inviting and the whole day appeared seamless and super efficient.
