96 Truck Tunes for Competition Days

Jay Halim showing us how it’s done

After a flurry of tweeting activity on Monday night during #HorseHour where we asked for suggestions for rousing pre-competition tunes to play on journeys, it seemed like a good idea to put together a ‘trucking fun’ Spotify playlist. Little did I know how much time I could waste having a really good reminisce (mainly over the 80s!)

It was amazing how many tunes have equestrian nuances, be it the weather (Mr. Blue Sky and Baby It’s Cold Outside), the gear (These boots are made for walking), the support (With a little help from my friends and A-Team) or the result (Survival and We are the Champions).

Not all of these suggestions are my own and I am very grateful for anonymous contributions from my equestrian and non-equestrian friends.  It is an eclectic collection to say the least! There are a few songs at the end that are for the journey home – especially if things haven’t gone quite to plan.

If your favourite isn’t there, let us know on Twitter @thegaitpost and we will add it in.  If you don’t have Spotify, here’s the link to download it but panic not, there’s a full list below. GET SPOTIFY

We hope they help get you in the zone!  There are 96 tunes so far: Robbie, Mr. Bublé, Survivor, Elbow, Nina Simone, Queen and some TV and movie classics…that’s over 6 hours of singing!  Just don’t crash!

For further inspiration, check out Jay Halim’s #lorrysingalong Facebook page and get uploading – we’d love to see your musical talents!  This is where it all started…

Huge thanks to Jay Halim for his pics – if you haven’t read his interview with us, check it out below. Can you help Jay keep his ride on Abrisco? Get in touch with Jay on 07979 550180 if you would like to find out more.

And if you haven’t yet discovered #HorseHour, it’s a weekly tweet-up on Twitter every Monday night between 8pm-9pm GMT where you can meet fellow equestrians, equine businesses and have a ‘chat’ about everything equestrian. See you there!
