Valentine’s in Lockdown

If lockdown birthdays, anniversaries and even Christmas weren’t bad enough, we now have Valentine’s Day to contend with and for many, this means apart from their loved one. For those lucky enough to be with their partner in crime during the pandemic, maybe a bit of Valentine’s magic will go some way to redeem those annoying traits that crop up in confined spaces. But, the main thing is, whatever the gripe may be, we stay home, we continue to stay safe, and we keep in touch with families and friends who are alone, scared, vulnerable and hug those nearest to us just that little bit harder.

So here are 7 gorgeous Valentine’s gift ideas: For him, for her, for both of you, that we would love to give, to receive and to share.

Neom Organics London Wellbeing Pod Diffuser, John Lewis, £90.00

Smell plays such an important role in my mood. Just one sniff as I walk into the tack room instantly fills me with comfort and I’ve spent lockdown lighting every candle – sod saving them for special occasions! They really do lift me up. Whatever your wellbeing need, this clever Pod works at the touch of a button, helping you achieve better sleep, less stress, a mood lift or more energy through 100% natural essential oil blends. It’s worth knowing that the oils are sold separately but get your paws on some lemongrass oil and you’ll be whisked away to memories of a relaxing spa day.

I just love everything about a flower subscription service. Whether it’s for you (I treated myself a few weeks ago!) or for your other half, best friend or mum, it’s such a seriously special treat.

FlowerBx offer a variety of subscriptions: weekly, fortnightly or monthly with different collections but we love (hint hint) the Classic Subscription which celebrates each season’s floral favourites and costs £45 per delivery. You also receive their signature vase with your first delivery and can increase the size of the bouquet for an extra £25 for even more beautiful blooms.

Valentine’s Day Chuck 70 High Top, Converse, £75.00

Converse means one thing for me….summer is coming! And this is an all-time classic with a twist. Embroidered with hearts and “Made With Love” messaging, there’s a lot to love about these Chuck 70 sneakers. Also available in black. His and Hers?!

Masterclass subscription, £14.17 a month (billed annually)

If you didn’t manage to learn a new skill in 2020, maybe now’s you time. A Masterclass subscription is wonderful escapism. There is so much subject choice from breadmaking to dog training and the teachers are real pros – how about writing thrillers with Dan Brown, acting lessons with Helen Mirren or Samuel L Jackson, singing with Christina Aguilera or perfect your party trick for when we are out of lockdown with magic with Penn & Teller.

What’s not to love about Emma Bridgwater’s new collection of hobby mugs?! We obviously think this pony one is adorable and the perfect gift for a Horse Phobic Husband that helps you muck out but other hobbies include golf, gardening, cake making, skiing and crafting. From £20.95 plus £1 per letter.

If the thought of creating a magical Valentine’s dinner with small (or large) children under your feet turns you right off, how about ditching the gifts and treating yourselves to a phenomenal Argentine feast from Gaucho, that you finish at home?

Don’t gulp (just yet!) but £100 gets you this for 2 people:

A selection of appetizers to share: Parmesan Chipa, Heirloom and Burrata Salad and Atlantic Cured Salmon cured in cumin, paprika and dill followed by, wait for it…a main course of either Atlantic salmon, mushroom and saffron rice in puff pastry, or Baby spinach, baked red onion and burrata pie encased in puff pastry or Slow cooked Asado-style ribs, glazed in paprika, chilli, mustard, herbs and garlic (yes please!) with Honey-herb Roast Vegetables and Gratin Potatoes….and to finish…yes there’s more…Tortita Negra – Argentine profiteroles filled with Dulce de Leche cream and a hot chocolate sauce. Heaven on several plates!

Order here! Champagne and wine available at extra costs.

Fear not if you have no one to share V Day with…treat yourself to this gorgeous set from Stripe & Stare. Perfect for laying, this Heart Throb set is made from Stripe & Stare’s super soft modal, which is sustainably sourced from Beechwood and is proven to be more than twice as soft as cotton.

We are huge fans of this sustainable brand that is designed by women for women with no unsightly lines and no riding up. Vest £25, Knickers £15. Non wired T-shirt bra also available.

Wherever you are, whoever you are with or without, we are thinking of you. Dates can be tough sometimes. Take care of yourself too x
