Brianna Tweddall – Allerton
Tell us about todays’ win – where were you competing and in what class?
Allerton park, ONu18.
What are your aims for 2017 for this horse?
I’ve only just moved up to novice level so hope to continue then hopefully do a few 1*’s next season.
Is this your first time at this event, or are you a regular? If a regular, what keeps you coming back? If a first timer, will you be back?
I have been regularly eventing at BE100 level, competed for the Northern region at the U18 championships in July. I have never competed at Allerton and this was my first novice class, will definitely return
Who is the biggest influence in your eventing career to date?
Oliver Townend, Nicola Wilson and Nick Skelton
Who is the unsung hero of your team and why?
My mum, as I couldn’t do it without her!
What is the one thing you wish you’d known before you started eventing?
How to judge the time!
Describe the funniest “blooper” you have experienced eventing
1st BE100 on Lish we went far too fast, I ended up with a BE speeding ticket and 12 time faults, oops 🙊
Which is your favourite event & why?
Richmond as it is local and being in the zetland pony club we do a lot of rallies there. I always look forward to Richmond as it is always a lovely, well ran event.
What will be in your “Chicken Dinner” and what will you wash it down with?
My Mum’s chicken dinner (it’s the best!) with some sparkling water

Tell us about todays’ win – where were you competing and in what class?
Munstead BE90.
Albertas Pride was diagnosed in January 2017 with right hind suspensory damage. He has been treated using Arc Equine technology and a detailed rehab plan, resulting in him returning to eventing just 9 months post injury diagnosis. This was his first and only run in a year.
We posted a 21 (79%) dressage to lead, then produced a very easy peasy double clear and even managed to finished 1 second inside the optimum time. My plan was just to have a quiet hack around but I had forgotten what an enormous stride he has and how he likes to take out strides EVERYWHERE!
This resulted in a very convincing WIN in his first and last BE 90 event of 2017, having not evented since August 2016!
What are your aims for 2017 for this horse?
My aim was originally to successfully upgrade it Novice but due to the injury, it has been a major set back so our aim quickly changed to getting him fit and sound enough to return to eventing.
Is this your first time at this event, or are you a regular? If a regular, what keeps you coming back? If a first timer, will you be back?
I have ridden at Munstead many times. It is a favourite of mine for young horses or as in this instance a horse returning to competition post injury. This is due to it being a perfectly flat and level xc with firm going and not too many questions at any level.
Who is the biggest influence in your eventing career to date?
My trainer, mentor and friend Lucy Thompson.
Who is the unsung hero of your team and why?
My long suffering husband Jason for making my dreams come true but supporting and finding my passion for eventing.
What is the one thing you wish you’d known before you started eventing?
The cost as I would never have taken it up!
Which is your favourite event & why?
Barbury or Rockingham International. Both amazing venues with really big galloping xc courses and fabulous ground and a huge atmosphere.
What will be in your “Chicken Dinner” and what will you wash it down with?
A Kung Po King Prawn Chinese dish with a Magners.
What is your current favourite lorry karaoke song?

Tell us about you
I’d say semi – pro, I earn my living from riding horses but since having an accident in 2009 and then a baby in January this year it’s a lot more about fun these days!
Tell us about todays’ win – where were you competing and in what class?
Burnham Market BE80
I was riding Dennis (Master Comic) who belongs to my godmother, he is her happy hacker who she got from Ireland and broke in herself. Chandra’s friend and also my dressage trainer Elaine Forge competes Dennis BD but I persuaded them to let me teach him to jump back in the summer just in time to take him to Horseheath BE where he won his first ever BE event! So this is his 2nd win of 3 events! I’m so pleased for Chandra he’s turning into a bit of a superstar!
What are your aims for 2017 for this horse?
Dennis is entered BE90 at Little Downham, hoping he makes the step up successfully and then that’ll be his eventing done for this season. No doubt he’ll go back to being a happy hacker dressage horse over the winter, I might get to do a bit of showjumping with him if I’m lucky!
Is this your first time at this event, or are you a regular? If a regular, what keeps you coming back? If a first timer, will you be back?
My first ever BE event was actually at Burnham Market back in 2005 when I was 14!
I have been back a number of times since, I love the showjumping arena with great viewing from the banks round the edge and if you walk to the mound in the middle of the XC you have a great view of alot of the course from there too.
I seem to get on well at Burnham Market, that always helps!
Who is the biggest influence in your eventing career to date?
I look up to all the top level riders, I know how much work it takes to do well at even the lowest levels so I’ll always admire their dedication.
Of the people closest to me I never would have started eventing without PC and my PC instructor Sam Nichols who is now a good friend. If she hadn’t persuaded me to do PC area eventing with my slightly highly strung showjumping pony when I was 12 or 13 I don’t know if I’d have ever had a go. Despite being last after dressage the double clear got us to the PC championships and I’ve been hooked ever since!
Who is the unsung hero of your team and why?
There are too many to mention but the one that stands out most has to be my mum!
She keeps me in order… and grounded! She’ll always tell me when I’m wrong and she’s (almost!) always right!
What is the one thing you wish you’d known before you started eventing?
I wish I’d known how rare the wins are so I could have celebrated the earlier wins in my career more!!
Describe the funniest “blooper” you have experienced eventing.
Not exactly eventing but training for eventing. I got a new air jacket and having never worn it before I took 3 horses XC schooling, it was pre-season and they were a bit fresh! One slipped over and two bucked me off… safe to say I no longer have the bl***y air jacket!
Which is your favourite event & why?
Little Downham. It’s one of my nearest events (although still an hour and a half on a good day!) and we’ve always had good days there! Everything is close together and it’s a lovely friendly event.
What will be in your “Chicken Dinner” and what will you wash it down with?
Chocolate and a cold berry cider!
What is your current favourite lorry karaoke song?
I wish I had a lorry new enough to play music!
I’m not much of a music person as far as knowing what songs are and who sings them! But I’d go with anything fun!
