International Women’s Day 2018

In celebration of International Women’s Day we recognise the phenomenal achievements of some of the most inspiring women in the equestrian world.


HM The Queen

It is not unknown that HM The Queen is extremely passionate about her horses. She is highly knowledgeable and has enjoyed great success with her thoroughbreds. Who doesn’t love watching her cheer her horses home at Royal Ascot?

As well as her passion for racing, Her Majesty’s line of ponies have enjoyed considerable success in the show ring. A phenomenal lady that is admired by many… how we all want to be still riding at the age of 91!

Pippa Funnell MBE

Pippa is one of the world’s leading three day event riders. She was the first person to achieve the Rolex Grand Slam (consecutive wins at Rolex Kentucky, Badminton and Burghley). She has represented Great Britain at Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games, Europeans and won Badminton three times.

If you haven’t already you should read about her captivating career in her autobiography. 

Lucinda Green MBE

A World and two-time European Champion, Lucinda won Burghley twice and Badminton a record times, on six different horses! She is a huge personality on the eventing circuit and a great coach particularly for the cross country phase.

Lucinda’s yellow colours will forever be imprinted in our minds!

Charlotte Dujardin CBE

The girl on the dancing horse claimed Olympic Gold Dressage Champion at London 2012 and Rio 2016. Charlotte and her dancing partner Valegro also clinched two Golds at World Games, five Golds at European Championships and two Gold titles at Dressage World Cups. Her new autobiography about her exhilarating career is a definite must read! 

Charlotte also does a lot of work for The Brooke, as their global ambassador.


HRH Princess Anne

An impressive three European Championship medals, an Olympics and BBC Sports Personality of the Year to her name she is certainly not just the Queen’s daughter.

A true horsewoman that continues to inspire many with her dedication and commitment to all areas of the equestrian world.

Mary King MBE

One of the smiliest and bubbliest personalities on the eventing circuit. Mary’s career has included four Team Gold medals at World and European Championships and British Champion four times. She has represented Britain at four Olympic Games, won Badminton twice, Burghley and Kentucky.

Kristina Cook

Mrs Consistent, she has bred and produced horses at the very top of the game consistently throughout the years.. it is rare not to see her at the big events. Tina has claimed European Champion, Olympic individual and Team Bronze and Team Gold at the World Equestrian Games. 

Last year Tina was 7th at Badminton and 10th at Burghley with Star Witness. 

Zara Tindall MBE

Former World Champion and winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Zara has numerous 4* successes under her belt alongside Team Silver at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Jennie Loriston Clark MBE

Jennie is one of Britain’s leading Dressage riders and trainers and has represented Great Britain in four Olympic games. Jennie is a FEI International Dressage and Eventing judge and owns and manages the famous Catherston Stud. Her stallion Timolin is definitely one to keep an eye on in the years to come.

Katie Jerram

Leading show rider and producer, Katie has won too many accolades to list but have included the Lightweight Hunter Class at HOYS, winning the Ladies Hunter Side Saddle, Supreme Horse at HOYS and the Royal Windsor Hunter Championship and Supreme Horse at the RIHS.

Jonelle Price

The Queen of speed, she is one of the fastest riders across country. She has competed at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. She was 4th at the 2014 World Equestrian Games, 10th at Luhmulen CCI**** 2017 just after having her baby and 3rd at Burghley… to name just a few. 

Sophie Christiansen CBE

Sophie is a hugely successful Dressage rider who has competed in four successive Paralympic Games and is currently an eight-time Paralympic champion and has multiple World and European titles. 

Sophie was born two months prematurely with Cerebral Palsy and graduated with a First Class Masters degree in Mathematics and now works for investment bank, Goldman Sachs.

Bryony Frost

Bryony has certainly taken the National Hunt world by storm in her debut season as a professional jockey. She clinched her first Grade One win partnering Black Corton to success in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and is heading towards a very exciting Cheltenham Festival! She oozes personality and we think she is certainly heading to be one of the greatest female jockeys!
