The finalists and other selected participants will have their carrot cake recipes featured in the Brooke Burghley Bake Off recipe book alongside tips and recipes provided by ardent supporters of the charity including Joanna Lumley, Alastair Stewart, Wendy Turner-Webster, Rick Stein and Emma Milne.
Burghley Horse Trials is now in its 55th year. With over 160,000 visitors over the four days, more than 600 retail exhibitors and 90 of the world’s top eventing competitors entered, this year’s competition will be exactly 40 years since Jane Holderness-Roddam, Olympic Gold Medallist and now trustee for Brooke won the Event. She said:
“Burghley is one of my favourite events of the year, and I think it’s everybody’s dream to compete there. I’m very pleased that they will be supporting Brooke with this wonderful competition. Horses have been a part of my life since childhood, and their welfare is really important to me. Working horses, donkeys and mules around the world often aren’t as lucky as the horses taking part in Burghley. They need our help.”
Elizabeth Inman, Event Director at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials added:
“We are delighted to be supporting this fun and innovative campaign. The Brooke does incredible work improving the lives of equines in developing countries and educating their owners. We’re hoping that all the horse lovers who visit Burghley this September will consider combining their visit with fundraising for the Brooke, either by hosting a picnic tea for family and friends or by taking part in our baking competition.”
