BURGHLEY 2017: The 12 shops you need to visit

There’s so much choice at this year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials for a spot of  – well let’s be honest – a great big dollop of shopping, that we’ve combed through our favourites to share with you so you don’t miss out on these gorgeous finds or any of the action out on course. Did somebody mention Christmas?!

Let’s get the real credit card damage done first shall we? Stop by, drool over and simply coo at the stunning scarves at William & Son. Guaranteed to add superior style to any outfit, we simply adore the Sabina savage ponies and parrot design with hand rolled edging.

If, like us, you’re partial to some lorry park entertaining and are always scrambling for extra chairs, then the PoolBoyBeanbag from BigBoyBeanbag is a win win solution – made from water repellant fabric for use both in and out of the pool, we’ve got our eye on it for the horse box so that it can be on the grass whatever the weather for some serious chill out time.

Whoever said under garments need to be understated obviously hadn’t discovered the whimsical boxers from Beaufort & Blake. We love the fun palm trees and they make a great gift as they come in a cute embroidered gift bag.

The cardigan trend graced every catwalk for Autumn Winter 17 and whether it’s long, short, cropped, oversized or grampa-ish, anything goes quite frankly and Benetton has the perfect selection to see in sweater weather now the days are getting shorter.

Whether you’re heading somewhere swanky for a weekend shooting party or in need of some thank you gifts for the team, the relaxing applewood raw incense from Archie Foal will not disappoint. Nor will anything from the Tottering By Gently range – the 2018 Book of Engagements is back by popular demand and we had a rip roaring giggle at the new Stress range!

Whilst the ‘For You’ category might conjure up thoughts of stunning new riding boots, a bespoke saddle or even a state of the art spaceship of a horse box, it’s the simple things that make us smile and are slightly more realistic. The perfect solution to an uncomfortable nights sleep on the floor in the horse box, tent or to have handy when an unexpected guest stays over is the Bundle Bed and is the future of sleeping adventures. Unclip. Unroll. Unzip… Sleep.. oh and it’s machine washable.

Something we will be repeating this autumn was the planting of hundreds of daffodils last year – whilst it was pretty hard work at the time, we soon forgot about our endeavours as winter took hold and had the most wonderful surprise as spring began to unfurl and the garden came to life. Be sure to visit the multi-award winning Jacques Amand International to see their stunning collections of autumn planting bulbs.

The clever folk at The Oxford Brush Company have perfected functional, beautifully designed and hand crafted brushes for every need and every task. Even a brush, for a brush. Whether you need a hair brush, a brush to sweep the yard, a  brush to tame an unruly beard or even a paint brush, they can help find you the perfect brush for the task in hand.

Known as the Gift Wrap Guru, Jane Means has wrapped for royalty, the super-rich, global luxury brands and celebrities. With collections in Liberty and Fortnum & Mason, Jane’s ribbons are hugely popular as are the workshops at her Gift Wrapping Academy. With Christmas looming, now’s your chance to pick up some tips and wow your friends with your creations.

All this shopping will be thirsty work, the sun is due to shine and so you’re going to need to pit stop. Our radar will be locked on to two favourite haunts – the Inverawe stand for delicious smoked salmon sustenance and the Pol Roger Lodge for…why bubbles of course.

Don’t forget 2 special events are happening at the Pol Roger Lodge. On Friday night, the Bits vs. Balls Challenge takes place with Clare Balding OBE hosting a fun event in aid of Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity – read all about it here.

On Saturday, don’t even think about trying to jump the traffic queues by leaving early – stay put and head down to the Lodge for the official Cross Country party, which starts at 6pm. All welcome.
