Little London Whispers

Capital fun this half term

Are you in a panic about what to do over half term and need a little inspiration quickly? Emma Bevan has come up with a must-do hit list and if the weather stays like it is, they will all make for a fabulous day out in London.

Engineering Season at the V&A: The Ove Arup Exhibition is incredible for kids, teenagers and adults alike. Ove Arup is the man behind the Pompadou in Paris, the Penguin House at London Zoo and last but not least the Sydney Opera House amongst many other buildings. His company was also behind the recent ‘Smile’ exhibit at the Design Building next to the Tate Britain for LDF. Kids go free, and there is the Elytra Filament exhibit in the garden that is stunning whilst you have your coffee or juice.

National Maritime Museum: There are always a ton of things to see and do in Greenwich.  I’d absolutely go by MBNA boat, because it is the most fun way to travel. Once there, there are restaurants as you get off, or take a picnic and sit and enjoy the incredible architectural surroundings.

The Planetarium has The Astronomy Photography of the Year, which has just opened. Inspire future Astrologists or just marvel at the beauty of the sky.

London Zoo: Boo at the Zoo, and they are not talking escaped Gorillas!  All week they have spooky happenings and with every child ticket brought online, there is free pumpkin carving for a pumpkin party – so dress the part little ones!

Battersea Park: There is GO APE and Crazy Golf all together for an easy days entertainment. The new cafe has also re-opened. A little pricy, but if not, try the Prince Albert pub, for some seriously good nosh.

Oxygen Free Jumping in Acton: They have a 20% offer going on for 21-31 October, and on the 28th October there is a Halloween Spooktacular.  I’m thinking of flying witches, and jumping ghosts!

London Dudgeon: Witch hunts are on 1-31 October, if you dare….
