Advanced tickets have been flying out and are still available online for Saturday and Sunday’s competition at Belton International Horse Trials. With the highest calibre of rider that the event has ever seen, today’s spectators have been treated to sport worthy of the top events in the world.

Germany lead

The Lycett’s sponsored CIC3* Grantham Cup overnight leader board is looking exciting! With Germany’s Bettina Hoy riding Seigneur Medicott on an impressive dressage score of 33.20 heading the field. Lying in second is Britain’s Laura Collett on Grand Manoeuvre with 36.30 followed by Christopher Burton on Santano II on 39.50 with lots of competitors still to go, there is a thrilling two days of competition ahead.

Novice classes

Taking today’s 1st Novice section was local Leicestershire rider Lauren Shannon on Anne Stayley’s Priorspark Precocious impressively staying on their dressage score of 25. J P Sheffield also added nothing to his dressage score of 28 to claim Novice section B and Steve Garrod took section C again adding no penalties to his 28.80. Jodie Amos and Direct Ballytarsna Ducarel claimed the top prize in Novice section D on 31.30. Holly Needham and Cruz V achieved an impressive dressage score of 24.80 and added nothing to it to claim the Open Novice U18.
