Barbury’s cross country course travels over rolling downland with much of it utilising old turf gallops. The well drained chalkland promises good going and retains plenty of spring and turf cover even in a dry summer. The cross country course was newly built for the first event in July 2005. Designed by International Course Designer, Captain Mark Phillips, the fences are mostly permanent with some portables.

Wilton Horse Trials is run in Wilton Park owned by the Earl of Pembroke and the Trustees of the Wilton House Trust. The first Wilton Horse Trial was run in 1976 and it has always been a well renowned and popular event. It has a reputation for being a very friendly and efficiently run event and is well supported by local companies and the local community. It is set on old parkland with easy access and viewing areas for spectators.
