Eventing substitution for Europeans

27 August 2015

Unfortunately Waltham Fiddlers Find ridden by Tom Jackson and owned by Ian and Sara Jackson and athlete, has met with a slight setback that will prevent him from competing at the upcoming Longines FEI European Championships at Blair Castle (10-13 September 2015).

The Eventing Senior Selectors have called up the next named reserve, Wills Oakden (25, from Fife, Scotland) and Greystone Midnight Melody (a British Bred 12 year old bay mare, also known as Molly), owned by Mr David Kenwright and Sylvia Douglas.

Eventing Performance Manager, Yogi Breisner commented; “As always we have ups and downs in the sport. It’s very sad that Tom’s horse has been found not fit enough to be going. He is a young and very talented rider with a horse we’re very excited about for the future which is another reason we didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks.”

The British Eventing Senior Selectors have decided to substitute Bayano, ridden by Flora Harris and owned by Caroline Harris and Rebecca Salt, ahead of the upcoming Longines FEI European Eventing Championships in Blair Castle (10-13 September), following the horse’s recent lack of form at the Eventing CICO3* Nations Cup event in Aachen.

The Senior Selectors have decided to replace this combination with Tom Jackson (22, from Kent) and Waltham Fiddlers Find (also known as Wesley; 12 year old, bay gelding) owned by Ian and Sara Jackson and the athlete.

In addition to the substitution, Izzy Taylor will now ride her direct reserve horse, Mr Guy Avis’s KBIS Briarlands Matilda (a 15 year old, British bred bay mare) at the Championships after Allercombe Ellie was found to be lame in Aachen.

All selected athlete/horse combinations are required to maintain their performance and fitness ahead of a Championship.
