Friday Finds: Summer Style

Check out our weekly collection of Friday Finds including some clever creations from three inspired sisters using lockdown to repurpose old jeans, some stunning summer entertaining essentials and hats…sadly not the Ascot variety but lovely all the same. With many events currently being staged behind closed doors, it’s a tough time for small brands who are missing out on their usual ‘shop front’ and we hope to help spread the word on some of these gorgeous products.

We’ve had some gorgeous weather already and hopefully there’s lots more to come but whilst we may not be dressing up for our favourite summer events it doesn’t mean we can’t socially distance in style within our bubbles. I’m a huge fan of Nadia C’s hand-woven Panama hats, which I discovered at the Gold Cup at Cowdray a few years ago.  Mine has made many an appearance in my Instagram Stories.

Nadia’s hats are all hand-painted by artisans in Cartagena, are 100% organic, ethical and sustainable, with 70% of the profits going back to the artisan community.

We recently dipped our toe in the personalised embroidery process and ordered some baseballs caps for my son’s polo team, which sadly looks like it won’t get any action this season. Never mind, we will still look the part ! However when you google personalised embroidery, it’s a minefield of options and quality!

Step forward Victoria Jenner form Stitched Equestrian, who we found via friends after despairing with the online process. To say we are chuffed is an understatement – they might only be caps but for us the whole process was seamless with Victoria’s expertise shining through and guiding us through all the possibilities. Super speedy service and we now are pondering the full kit and kaboodle!

I know how tough lockdown has been for us all and my teens have struggled with not seeing friends and the whole keeping busy and staying inspired has had its moments for us all. So I love the creative response to these weird times that sisters, Eliza, Jemima and Daisy Lord have fashioned through the launch of All Sorts Jeans.

All Sorts Jeans came about when the sisters decided to do something with the endless pairs of jeans that were lying around their home. As Eliza tells me, “We focus on a small number of main styles including patchwork flares and a new style of embroidery that is coming soon and we cater for everyone. Luckily we have a few creative genes between us and it’s kept us busy and been a lot of fun.”

Full disclosure on this next share…but I’m not only a proud aunt but also in awe of @gustdraws talent. Having taken a 2 year break from art following her A Levels, Gusty Williams has re-found her love for it during lockdown inspired by her passion for the ocean.

For every sale, Gusty donates 25% to a chosen charity having already supported FoodforHeroes and Refuge and is currently raising money for The Bail Project.

The annual Royal Ascot picnic is a force to be reckoned with! Which car park? Who’s bringing what and who forgot the glasses!? Thankfully the answer to stress free stylish picnic-ing comes via The Summer House Collection founded by Jessica Copcutt who knows a thing or two about the perfect picnic thanks to years supporting her family’s El Remanso polo team.

Check out her gorgeous array of goodies that will ensure nothing gets left behind nor is too heavy to lug about. We especially love the Churchill Salad Bowl but there’s a wonderful new melamine dinner service and the 3 litre Palia jugs are just waiting to be overflowing with Pimm’s. Just don’t save them for the big occasions, your table will love being filled with colour all summer long.

Start as you mean to go on…it’s a cliché alright but due to being a rubbish breakfast eater juggling kicking teens out of bed, remembering to turn up for Zoom calls and trying to get the odd ride on my horse, I needed to find something to stop me reaching for the Dairy Milk by 10am!

Nature’s Plus Fruitein Revitalising shake is seriously yummy! And so filling! Packed with over 40 fruits, vegetables and green foods I stir a scoop into a smoothie and drink it on the go and love that I’ve had a mega vitamin boost to kickstart the day.

I’m a big fan of Revital for health goodies and they have it in stock. Buy here
