Oliver Townend & Ludwig Svvenerstal have left the Island crowned the first winners at Osborne House, along with thousands of smiling spectators who have enjoyed two days of eventing in the island’s sunshine.

London Capital & Finance Osborne Horse Trials has proven to be a favourite with visitors and competitors alike, and hailed as huge success by all. Stuart Buntine, Managing Director of BEDE Events said of the two days:

“It was fantastic to see so many families joining us for the first time at Osborne, the eventing talent was second to none and the venue was perfect!”

Visitors travelled from far and wide to be part of sporting history at the stunning Osborne House and eventing fans gathered to take in the brand new format, which saw a snappy dressage test, show jumping and a challenging cross country course to finish. Alongside the first-class equestrian entertainment, there were a range of shops, bars and eateries, family attractions and dog agility for fans to enjoy!

“The new format went down a storm, spectators got to see their favourite riders from start to finish in a matter of hours. The pace of the competition kept everyone interested, even those brand new to eventing! “ says Stuart, who developed the new format specifically for the new horse trials.

Oliver Townend will be leaving the Island with not just one but two victories under his belt, along with a further second place and fourth! Island based rider Sarah Holmes had 3 rides across the two days, taking advantage of the first event of this level ever to take place on the Island!

Spectators not only had the brilliant equestrian talent to watch but a variety of arena entertainments from falconry to classical dressage, all of which proved a big hit! London Capital & Finance Osborne Horse Trials also played host to a wide range of Island based businesses, a great opportunity for spectators to get a taste of Island life!

“We had a fabulous and extremely worthwhile two days trading at Osborne Horse Trials. As an equestrian retailer based on the island, it was a pleasure to attend the first one. With it being such a well organised and prestigious event we cannot wait to do it all over again next year” said Rosie Knight of Knightsbrand Equestrian, an Isle of Wight based retailer.
