The Orscana Pack is a connected sensor that you can hang under all rug types. It analyses movement (time spent lying down, activity…) temperature underneath the rug and detects moisture levels.
The sensor is hung underneath the horse’s blanket, by the hollow of the hip; the strategic point where sweat first appears. The fixture system is completely safe, can not hurt horses and guarantees the integrity of the sensor.

I am using the Orscana Sensor on a particularly sensitive event horse and it is a genius idea. Not only has the device pointed out if he is over or under rugged by giving me an idea of his body temperature but I can monitor whether he has been agitated or calm throughout the night. This seems to have a direct effect on his behaviour the following day and I change the management accordingly.
He is not a great traveller and before this it was a quandary as to which rug to select to avoid over heating or catching a chill. I can be in the cab of the lorry and it is just a case of checking the app on my phone to see how comfortable he is. This puts an end to second guessing how to rug our horses and I imagine it could be a life-saver if you have a horse that is physically unwell or prone to colic.
