Oxfordshire Entries at Blenheim Palace HT

Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials (8th-11th September) is the highlight of the Oxfordshire equestrian calendar, and riders aspire to compete there. Once again, many of the county’s best riders have made it their target for the season.

Aynho’s Izzy Taylor, who has ridden on two senior championship teams for Great Britain, is seeking her first Blenheim Palace win and has entered OBOS Cooley in the feature CCI3* class. She will also ride Briarlands Birdsong in the final leg of the Event Rider Masters series – a new and exciting addition to Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials this year.

Irish Olympian Aoife Clark, who is based at Middle Barton, scooped her first major international win when she took the CCI3* at Blenheim Palace in 2013. She returns for another shot at the prestigious title with Wasting Light, while Fernhill Adventure targets the Event Rider Masters class.

Lydia Hannon, from Thame, brings My Royal Touch for the CCI3*, while Bledington’s Mike Jackson has entered the grey stallion PSH Promise Me for the CIC3* for eight- and nine-year-old horses.

Bert Bolton, from Banbury, will have his first Blenheim Palace ride on the ex-racehorse Purple Sands in the CCI3*.

Bert said:

“I’m really looking forward to it – I’ve never had the chance to ride at Blenheim Palace before and it is one of those events that you grow up dreaming about competing at. Purple Sands, known at home as ‘Rupert’, is very fast so I’m hoping for a fantastic cross-country ride on him.”

Event Director Mandy Hervieu said:

“It’s great to have Oxfordshire riders competing at Blenheim Palace – they attract a lot of support from the crowd. We’re looking forward to four great days of competition – Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials is a brilliant family day out, with excellent shopping and a wide variety of arena attractions and demonstrations.”
