This year’s top lot, a 3 year old mare Shannondale Mari sold for €35,000 and is making her way to Pennsylvania (USA) to her new home with Australian rider Ryan Woods. Consigned by Martin Walsh from The Shannondale Stud, the mare’s breeding lines include Shannondale Sarco, Lux Z and Darco, her half sister competes with 4* rider Rosalind Canter (GBR) in Britain.

New Zealand team event rider Lucy Jackson said:

“I am very impressed with the exponential growth of the sale, the quality of the horses and being able to see 80 top class future stars at the best time of the season.”

Lot 78, a beautiful Palomino by Rainstown Lad, was bought by Lucy’s owner Amanda Gould.

As well as finding homes in Ireland and the UK, this years’ graduates will be travelling as far a field as America, Canada, Germany, Finland and Italy to embark on what is hoped to be very successful futures at the top of their sport. With a clearance rate of almost 80% and average price of over €10,000, The Monart Sale organiser Niall Griffin is delighted with the results:

‘’to be able to nearly double the number of horses entered into this years sale and to sustain such a high clearance rate, quality and sale price is very promising especially in this time of economic uncertainty due to Brexit and the American Election. One of the most exciting aspects for me was the sale of some of our 3 year olds into America for the first time. I really hope that all of our buyers enjoy their new purchases, and I wish them all the luck in the future. I’m looking forward to seeing them again next year.’’

Offering the finest selection of young horses, Monart Sale graduates have sold from anything between €3,000 and €48,000 and have gone on to the highest level of our sport, such as the 9th placed 2016 Olympian, Cooley Rorkes Drift.
