We’ve mentioned The Summer House Collection on our Insta Stories several times before and have enjoyed watching the range grow with gorgeous table linens, kaftans and to die for tableware. We caught up with founder Jessica Copcutt about her inspirations and she shares her top tips for outside entertaining, plus there’s an amazing giveaway to win one of Jessica’s favourite acrylic Palla jugs (there’s a choice of 5 colours) (CLICK HERE TO ENTER).
What was your inspiration for setting up The Summer House Collection?
Sitting around the table, surrounded by family and friends, with the noise and laughter of adults and children has always been important to me and from this came the idea to create a company that specialised in beautiful table linens and summer ware. In November 2018 I made the decision to go for it, I set up The Summer House Collection and headed out to India in the February of 2019 to source suppliers who would be able to work with me and my designs, and so the Summer House was born!

Outside entertaining has always been a big part of my life, I come from a very large family where long lunches in the sunshine and picnics at the polo and racing were a big part of my growing up and full of happy memories. Now with my own family we continue to recreate these times, picnics at the pony club polo, long lunches in the sunshine, I think they are important times for a family to come together and lots of happy memories can be created.
Tell us about the collection
Our products range from our table ware, which is predominately hand block printed table linens, to picnic rugs, beach bags, sarongs, kaftans and acrylic table ware. Our acrylic table ware is designed by Mario Luca Giusti who places a focus on practicality, elegance, convenience and beauty. Each item imitates the sophistication and weight of crystal and glass but is made from acrylic to produce stunning, colourful designs.
What is your top tip for outside entertaining?
Keep it simple. I love a pretty table cloth, laid up with flowers in bud vases down the centre. If you have a pretty table cloth with napkins it speaks for itself, simplicity creates its own elegance.
Do you have a a go-to dish to impress your friends?
No matter what, I always seem to end up resorting back to my favourite easy Ottolenghi salad: French beans and mange tout with hazelnut and orange (recipe can be found here). It is so easy to make, tastes fantastic and can be prepared in advance. It’s also really good to have on a picnic and adults and children alike enjoy it.
