MARCH 4th 2015

Some of the world’s top event riders are jumping to the Red Nose challenge in a bid to raise up to £5,000 for Comic Relief.

The popular early season event, Oasby Horse Trials, near Grantham (March 12th-15th) has been re-titled ‘Red Noasby’ and organisers Bede Events have set the bar high.

For every Friday rider who show jumps wearing a Red Nose, Bede Events has pledged to donate £10 to Comic Relief.

“With at least 200 leading riders scheduled to compete on Friday we are set to pledge about £2,000” said Event Director, Stuart Buntine. “But more than that, the Red Nose initiative has gone crazy and everyone wants to join in. Facebook and Twitter are buzzing with ideas to widen the appeal.

“Weekend riders have asked if they can wear Red Noses for show jumping if they make a donation. As well as the riders, everyone from judges to photographers want to get involved and do their bit for charity” he added. “We are hoping to raise up to £5,000.”

The rosettes, the jumps and the programme will all be Red Nose branded for Friday’s competition in a bid to encourage everyone to join in the fun and help Bede hit their target.

Oasby Horse Trials is one of the first events of the season and attracts more than 1300 competitors during the four-days. These range from amateur grassroots competitors to some of the world’s top eventers and Olympic riders such as Sir Mark Todd, Andrew Hoy and Paul Tapner. The majority of their classes take place on Friday so look forward to seeing the professionals in action “looking funny for money”.

Keep up to date with all the news from Oasby on Twitter and don’t worry if you can’t get there to support everyone. Here is the link to the #redoasby Red Nose Day Giving Page – please donate, however small, every penny makes a huge difference.
