Following an extremely successful inaugural year of the Britannia League, British saddle manufacturer Fairfax Saddles have joined British Eventing as generous title sponsors of the League which was launched to celebrate British talent.
The Britannia League, which recognises British riders and their horses as combinations, uses the BE points system. Points are accrued at three star level events in the UK as well as at FEI Nations Cup fixtures. The League is only for riders who haven’t registered a result under the British flag at Senior Championship level at FEI European Championships, World Equestrian Games or in Olympic Games.
Nigella Hall, who was the original creator and funder of the League is a long standing supporter and event horse owner. She commented on the new support from Fairfax Saddles: “It is fantastic that Fairfax are coming on board to assist in this league. This means we can successfully continue to reward top British talent as well as recognise the loyal Owners of their horses.”
Vanessa Fairfax of Fairfax Saddles said: “It is such an honour to be able to help recognise the strength in depth of Event riders that Britain has; this sponsorship is particularly dear to us as a British manufacturer. We wish all eligible riders the best of luck and look forward to seeing who tops the tables this season!”
Jodie Amos was the inaugural winner with her own and Nicola Coates’ Wise Crack in 2014. “I was delighted when I discovered that the League was for horse and rider combinations, rather than just riders; it makes it much fairer for those of us who don’t have a lot of horses at three star level. To be able to bid for such fantastic prize money is a huge incentive, plus the League offers a great opportunity to gain recognition for those of us who have not yet made it on to a senior team,” explained Jodie.
Britannia League Prizes
Fairfax Saddles have generously contributed to the £5000 rider bursary fund for the leading rider at the end of the season as well as towards the bursary of £3000 for the second placed rider and £1000 to third.
Nigella Hall also continues to fund the League and provide the Owner of the leading horse with a beautiful bronze trophy to be awarded at the end of the 2015 season.
To reward the riders even further, Fairfax Saddles are also offering the following performance enhancing products from their range as part of the Britannia League sponsorship:
– A Fairfax Saddle and Performance Girth of the winning rider’s choice
– A Fairfax Performance Girth to the second and third placed riders in the League.
