Maisie Farnham & Black Magic’s magical achievement

Scunthorpe young rider, Maisie Farnham has qualified for the SEIB Trailblazers National Championships. Maisie, just seven years old will compete in the 65cm 12 years and under Show Jumping Championship Class, riding her precious pony Black Magic.

Qualifying is a special achievement for this brave little rider, because only last summer she suffered a horrific fall from another pony and was severely trampled upon.  Maisie needed major surgery to repair multiple fractures to her jaw.  Two operations later and fully healed, she is delighted to be able to ride her ponies again, but understandably so, with a little more caution.

With a dent to her confidence, pony mad and show jumping obsessed Maisie was determined to make a courageous return to the saddle and hopes to be just like her hero, John Whitaker.

Said Maisie:

“I want to ride just like John, he’s amazing.”

After purchasing Black Magic back in October 2016, the pair have been working hard over the winter to improve their confidence together and forge an unbreakable bond.

“I can’t wait to go to the finals at Stoneleigh.  I’ve always wanted to go to a big show and sleep in the lorry! It’s a dream come true.”

Maisie and Black Magic finished second in their class at Sykehouse Arena, which secured their place at the SEIB Trailblazers National Championship, a seven day extravaganza in July and August.

“I’m so excited to go to such a big show and spend lots of time with Magic , I don’t know what it will be like but I’m looking forward to it,” added Maisie.
