Women in Racing AGM and launch of diversity research

Women in Racing (WiR) confirmed its sixth AGM will take place on Wednesday 17 May at York Racecourse, which is the first day of the Dante Meeting. The AGM will also mark the launch of the findings from the first ever research into diversity in British horseracing.

The research, entitled “Women’s Representation and Diversity in the Horseracing Industry”, has been funded by The Racing Foundation and carried out by the Centre for Diversity Policy Research and Practice at Oxford Brookes University in partnership with Women in Racing.

Professor Simonetta Manfredi, Professor of Equality and Diversity Management, will deliver the findings of this research to WiR members and guests in attendance.  Kate Clayton-Hathway, PhD Researcher and Research Assistant at the Centre, as well as Sally Rowley-Williams, Founder and Honorary President of WiR will also support in presenting the findings.

Julie Deadman, Chair of Women in Racing, said:

“We really look forward to welcoming members and non-members to our AGM for what will be an important day for Women in Racing, and the sport as a whole, with the launch of the diversity research.  We would like to thank the team at York Racecourse for generously hosting us and allowing us to be part of a wonderful day of racing.  We would encourage people wanting to attend to book their place as availability is limited.”

Tickets to this event are only £20 for Women in Racing members and £45 for non- members. The ticket includes an entry badge to York Racecourse; use of a box in the Knavesmire stand with a racecourse view all day; tea and coffee in the morning followed by Pimms and a buffet lunch; and a cash bar and light bites on sale throughout the afternoon of high class racing action.

The event will commence with the AGM from 10.30am, followed by the launch of the Diversity Research with guest speakers, Pimms and a buffet lunch from 1pm and the first race at 2.10pm.
