For so many people, being a brand ambassador or a sponsored rider is dream come true. And it can be brilliant for all concerned. But with so many examples of amazing influencers and riders out there, it can be hard to stand out. The good news is, it’s far from impossible, and these three tips below will help you, as a rider, appeal to brands that you’d love to work with…
Three ways to get noticed by the brands you love
1. Start engaging with their content in a genuine way. Love their Reel? Like it. Think their pic is stunning? Comment on it. Adore the latest collection? Share it to your Stories. It’s really important that each and every interaction we have of this nature is genuine, but it’s also important that we engage in a visible way. Thinking ‘ah, that’s lovely, I really do love that brand’ in your head is absolutely fine, but if your dream is to work with them in the future, you need to start the ‘conversation’, even if that’s just one sided for now!

2. Talk about the products that you own from them and love. With the brands I work with, this is like a big flashing beacon! If you like what a brand does and have bought from them, they why not share relevant content about it on your social media platforms? Tagging them, of course. Not only does this help your fans and followers as you’re sharing products your love/help you in your life (which might also help them), but you’re showing the brand what you could do with their products.
And as a side benefit, you’re also introducing your followers to this brand so, if and when an opportunity to work with them in a closer way comes along, it makes a lot of sense rather than just coming out of nowhere. I also firmly believe (and have been proven right many times on this too) that if someone will promote something that they’ve paid for, they’re likely to do an amazing job when they work with a brand and receive products for free.

3. Get your own house in order. If you’re hoping to share a brand’s products or services on social media, make sure your social media is good. Ensure you’re showing up consistently, engaging with your fans and followers, producing quality content that shows yourself and everything you do in a positive light. Think of your social media, your website, whatever place you’re hoping to work with brands, as your shop window. Do your best to ensure it’s well maintained. Because if you can’t look after your own platforms, why would a brand ‘trust’ you to be a voice or a contributor to theirs?
