Whilst pop star Rhianna might have swam with sharks for her recent Harper’s Bazaar cover shoot, for the MD of premium retailer Dressage Deluxe Alison Nye-Warden, swimming with sharks is more than a just a photo shoot opportunity, it’s a huge passion!
Alison recently went diving in the Bahamas, where she swam with Caribbean Reef Sharks and it’s something she loves, as she explains:
“I am a massive shark fan, as I feel that they are seriously misunderstood. During these dives I was pushed and shoved by the sharks and even received a smack around the head from a tail fin as they were feeding, but not one of them even attempted to give me a nip, as humans really aren’t on their menu! There were approximately 40 sharks in the water with me and I cannot wait to do it again!”
Alison also returned home with a rather unusual souvenir:
“The shark closest to me has a deformed jaw from an incident with a fisherman that left a four inch iron hook in her mouth. This was removed by the dive guide (who was wearing chain mail) and he gave me the hook as a souvenir – that beats fluffy donkeys from Spain and miniature statues of the Eiffle Tower anytime!”
And we would have to agree!
